Classic Fudgy Brownie Recipe
Ingredients (for about 12 brownies)
200g (1 cup) dark chocolate, chopped
120g (½ cup) unsalted butter
150g (¾ cup) granulated sugar
50g (¼ cup) brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
65g (½ cup) all-purpose flour
25g (¼ cup) unsweetened cocoa powder
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking powder (optional, for slightly lighter brownies)
100g (½ cup) chocolate chips (optional, for extra chocolate chunks)
Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and line a baking pan (8×8 inches) with parchment paper.
2️⃣ Melt the chocolate and butter: In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter together using a double boiler or microwave (heat in 20-second intervals, stirring in between). Let it cool slightly.
3️⃣ Mix the wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk the sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until the mixture is light and slightly fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
4️⃣ Combine the chocolate mixture: Slowly pour the melted chocolate into the sugar-egg mixture while whisking continuously.
5️⃣ Mix the dry ingredients: In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
6️⃣ Fold everything together: Gently mix the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture using a spatula. Don’t overmix! Add chocolate chips if desired.
7️⃣ Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
8️⃣ Cool and serve: Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before cutting into squares. This helps them set and become fudgier.
Tips for Perfect Brownies
✔️ For extra fudgy brownies, remove them from the oven while the center is still slightly soft.
✔️ For a crinkly top, beat the eggs and sugar well before adding the chocolate.
✔️ Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor.
